Log

I wanted to start with the dome but there are not always available, so to ensure I committed to the build, I started with the sounds electronics and ordered an aluminium Radar Eye.

While the Radar Eye was on order, the Dome became available. A good idea is to set up alerts on Astromech.net forums,

The Dome from Granite earth comes as an inner and outer dome and the ring base. The outer dome panels have small tabs that need to be carefully removed. The outer dome will need to be deburred in order for the two domes to fit without getting stuck together during dry fitting.

The tabs that you cut out most will be painted blue there are 2 that remain with the aluminium finish and part of the inner dome also gets painted.

Now that the dome paint is complete, the Dome greebles are fitted. Make sure you wait until you have them all and dry fit them before sticking the panels in place.

I found the it easiest to interface the PSI and rear logic display surrounds was to use a little math, modelling and 3D print them. I will replace these with aluminium at some point.

With the dome pretty much in a baseline completed state, its time for the body. Starting with the Holme made frame. I chose this over the Com8 frame because I like the ease and access the two sections provide.

Lights in, sound on and time to test out the dome motor with his new frame.

Dry fitting the skins.
